Fiji's president has praised the peacekeeping work of Fiji troops in the Sinai region.

Ratu Epeli Nailatikau has thanked them for their service and for upholding Fiji's historic commitment to peacekeeping missions.

More than 330 troops from Fiji serve in the Sinai region under the Multinational Force of Observers.

The information ministry says Fiji has been serving in the region since the 1980s and is the third largest troop-contributing nation from the 13 countries that serve under Observer mission in Sinai.
