The ban on the use of styrofoam and its related products in Fiji comes into effect in the new year.
The government said it had conducted enough consultation on the issue to implement the ban on 1 January.
The Secretary for the Ministry of Environment, Joshua Wycliffe, said a public awareness campaign on the ban will be carried out soon.
Mr Wycliffe said a think-tank will also be set up to look into the legislation.
He said the amendment of the Bill includes the manufacture, sale or distribution of polystyrene products.
But he said the process would ensure Fiji is better prepared to provide a solid, strong compliance regime.
Wycliffe said the ministry would like to hear from academics, government agencies, the media and community groups.
