Third man arrested over Tauranga shooting

A third man has been arrested in relation to the attempted murder of a man in Tauranga.

Shotgun pellets hit the victim in the head when two shots were fired into a house on Meander Drive in Welcome Bay in July.

Two men were arrested on Thursday in connection with the incident.

Police say after the shooting, they discovered there had been a home invasion of the same address in May, as well as another unreported shooting in Hamilton relevant to the investigation.

A 44-year-old man from Tauranga will appear in court on Friday charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated burglary, wounding to cause grievous bodily harm, attempting to pervert the course of justice and possession of LSD.

The other men , both aged 35 and from Hamilton, are scheduled appear in the District Court in Tauranga on Wednesday.
