The Vanuatu government has recruited 36 public service directors.

The positions were re-advertised when the government dissolved permanent appointments, instead hiring directors on three-year performance contracts.

Several directors have been re-appointed to their positions.

The chair of the public service commission, Martin Mahe, said the directors' performance would be monitored.
