Part of a human skull has been found in Mt Maunganui.

Police said part of skull was found by a fisherman near Salisbury Wharf at around 1.30pm yesterday.
Detective Sergeant Alan Kingsbury said it is believe the remains belong to an adult and have been in the water for a number of years.
He said there is nothing to suggest there are any suspicious circumstances in relation to the skull and the matter has been referred to the coroner.
The Police National Dive Squad will be helping with a search of the area around the wharf today.
The use of the wharf and surrounding areas will be restricted today to ensure the search can be conducted safely.
