The man accused of murdering two Work and Income staff members in Ashburton has been remanded in custody, after a psychiatric assessment.
Russell John Tully is charged with the murder of Peggy Noble and Leigh Cleveland, who were shot dead in Ashburton on 1 September, as well as the attempted murder of Lindy Curtis and Kim Adams.
He has spent the past two weeks undergoing a psychiatric assessment in Hillmorton hospital in Christchurch.
In a brief appearance in the city's district court this morning, Mr Tully was remanded in custody until a case review hearing on 25 November.
He is yet to enter any pleas.
