Tahiti members passive in French legislature

16:17 pm on 30 December 2010

A Tahiti newspaper has collated the parliamentary contributions of French Polynesia's members of the French legislature and concluded that they are among the least active.

The Nouvelles de Tahiti says among the 343 French senators, Richard Tuheiava ranked 299th while Gaston Flosse was 339th.

It found that among the 577 members of the National Assembly, Bruno Sandras was 516th and Michel Buillard 540th.

Commenting the findings, Mr Tuheiava says in Mr Flosse's case, absences may have in part been due to him taking more of an interest in his role as member of the French Polynesian assembly.
