A Taupo woman who died yesterday morning was among customers affected by a power cut, lines company Unison Networks says.
Police said they were investigating whether the outage is related to the death of Fai Deane, who was 50.
A post mortem would be carried out today to help establish the cause of her death, police said.
Unison Networks spokesman Danny Gough said about 65 customers on Rifle Range Road, including Ms Deane, lost power for up to four hours after a car hit a power pole.
