Fiji's opposition leader is claiming the Fiji First government abused children by involving them in International Yoga Day celebrations.

Ro Teimumu Kepa made the comments following a yoga gathering at Suva's Albert Park on Tuesday, which included a large number of students.

She said yoga should be introduced as part of the school curriculum and not be used for a one-day propaganda show by the government.

She also criticised the government for including students in a full day event which prevented them from attending school.

Fiji's Ministry of Education ran a similar programme in schools last year, which involved around 30,000 students.
