Williamson rises in rankings

New Zealand's top batsman Kane Williamson has risen to a career high of five in the latest ICC Test batsmen rankings.

Williamson scored 140 and 59 in the first Test loss to Australia, and has been rewarded with a jump of two places, which has put him in fifth position for the first time in his career.

South Africa's AB de Villiers has gone top of the rankings ahead of Australian captain Steve Smith with Joe Root third and Hashim Amla fourth.

Australia's David Warner who scored two centuries in the Brisbane Test is up to seventh.

Brendon McCullum is the next best ranked New Zealander at 15.

South Africa's Dale Steyn remains the number-one ranked bowler, while New Zealand's Trent Boult is at six.
