Steven Adams is continuing his impressive season in the NBA, leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to a resounding 110-83 road win over the Detroit Pistons.

The New Zealand centre has scored a game-high 21 points (7/8 Field Goals) in just over 27 minutes to ensure the Thunder remain in touch with the leaders in the western conference.

Oklahoma City led by 10 points at halftime and extended it to 28 by the end of the third quarter, after outscoring the Pistons 37-19 in the period.

"Just made shots, you know, just throwing it up and it's bloody going in so it's good stuff," Adams told Fox Sports.

As well as producing his second best offensive showing of the season, the 25-year-old limited the effectiveness of the powerful Detroit front-court, holding Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond to a combined 33 points.

"They played two bigs and they're really good players...so we had to double on them, but I thought our rotations for the most part were pretty good."

Steven Adams is having a career-best season to date.

He's averaging 14.6 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.6 steals through 20 games.

After a sluggish start to the new season, the Thunder have won eight of their last 10 games and now boast a 15 win, seven loss record.

Oklahoma City sit third in the western conference, just behind surprise leaders the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Clippers.

The Nuggets have toppled eastern conference pacesetters the Toronto Raptors 106-103 in Canada, while the Clippers have edged the Pelicans 129-126 in New Orleans.
