Cairns labels allegations 'absurd, bizarre and scary'

Former New Zealand cricketer Chris Cairns continues to deny any involvement in match-fixing claims.

Cairns spoke to media at Auckland Airport on Friday, after returning from London where he was interviewed by the Metropolitan Police, the International Cricket Council's anti-corruption unit and the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Cairns said he requested the interview following allegations of match-fixing by former Black Caps team-mates Brendon McCullum and Lou Vincent. McCullum told investigators that he was approached by a former top player to fix matches.

He told reporters on Friday that, based on the information provided to him, he understood three players had been spoken to by the ICC about McCullum's claims - two former players and captains Stephen Fleming and Daniel Vettori and current cricketer Kyle Mills.
