The South Island Agricultural Field Days attracted more than 23,800 visitors - about 4,000 more people than attended the last event two years ago.
The three-day event at Lincoln near Christchurch ended on Friday.
Field Days committee secretary Errol Costello says the record 330 exhibitors appreciated the buoyant mood.
He has heard that vehicles were sold and there were numerous fertiliser orders.
