A man is dead after a car collided with a power pole near Rotorua.
The crash happened at 1.40am on Friday on Vaughan Road.
Police say attempts to rescue the three occupants of the car were hampered by live wires from the damaged power pole.
A man, 22, died at the scene. Two others were taken to hospital for treatment.
