Pacific destinations on show in NZ tourism expo

15:30 pm on 19 May 2014

A regional Pacific tourism expo this week in Auckland will draw more than 100 New Zealand travel agents and 66 international buyers from around the world.

The Marketing Manager of the South Pacific Tourism Organisation, Petero Manufolau, says the organisation has been overwhelmed with the response in the lead up to the expo, the South Pacific Tourism Exchange .

Mr Manufolau says there will be 67 companies from around the region selling their tourism products to the international market.

"We're encouraging our participants to use this as a foundation of gaining access into international markets particularly for our Pacific Islands exhibitors who rarely get the chance to meet this many international buyers from different countries under one location and not only in one location but very close to home as well."

The exchange will be held at the Pullman Hotel in Auckland on Thursday and Friday.
