The New Zealand branch of Save the Children has launched its biggest campaign to date to help save lives in cyclone-wrecked Fiji.

Cyclone Winston claimed the lives of 43 people and caused massive damage to the country's houses and infrastructure.

The NGO is investing $2.5 million US dollars into a child-centred national strategy to help the most vulnerable Fijian communities, aiming to reach close to 14,000 children.

It is being funded by the New Zealand aid programme and the NGO's own funding raised through donations.

The chief executive Heather Hayden is in Fiji and told Don Wiseman want they aim to achieve.
