The current Premier of Niue has been a conspicuous absentee at public forums ahead of the weekend's election.
BCN reported while most election candidates were increasing their public visibility, Sir Toke Talagi had not been attending such meetings.
Sir Toke is standing for one of the six Common Roll seats.
The only public forum which he used to campaign was at the launch of his biography 'Niue rising' last December when he told those attending to "tick his name on the ballot box".
In the last sitting of the Fono Ekepule last month, Sir Toke publicly confirmed he was contesting the general election despite concerns by MPs over his health condition.
