Solomons opposition unhappy with Forum's approach to Fiji crisis

The Solomon Islands opposition leader says he's unhappy with the approach taken on Fiji by the Melanesian Spearhead Group and the Pacific Islands Forum.

The Solomon Star reports that Manasseh Sogavare says the latest developments in Fiji are unfortunate but expected due to the childish approach to the problem by the Pacific Islands Forum leaders.

He says by accepting the broader view by the rest of the Forum leaders, the Prime Ministers of Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands have not done enough to help Fiji in its current crisis.

He says MSG leaders should use the spirit of Melanesian brotherhood to sit down with Fiji's interim Prime Minister and help him better express his aspirations for Fiji's future.

The opposition leader says the collective view of the Forum has never sought to understand the issues which the interim Prime Minister was raising.
