Auckland's largest real estate firm Barfoot and Thompson says house prices are continuing to trend upwards.
March figures for the company show the average sale price was $545,156 - up about $53,000 on the same month last year.
Managing director Peter Thompson says the numbers reflect a balanced and consistent market and accounting for monthly fluctuations, the average sales price in Auckland was up 3.2% over the last year.
Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs JBWere economist Philip Borkin says the data suggests momentum in the housing market is not deteriorating, but remains sluggish.
