Emergency services in Auckland are searching for a man who fell into the sea near the entrance to Manukau Harbour on Friday night.
Police said the man was out with another person collecting shellfish at Nine Pin Rock, before falling into the water just before midnight.
The man was not wearing a lifejacket, they added.
The Coastguard's Kimberley Waters said crews are back searching today.
"This morning we've had our Coastguard Auckland Air Patrol has been up in the sky searching and we've also got volunteers again from Papakura and Titirangi also back on the waters today looking for the missing man."
Waters said unsafe seas forced Coastguard to suspend the search last night.
"Despite all the search equipment available to our crews, visibility and conditions on the bar remained poor," Coastguard Titirangi skipper Mike Armstrong said.
"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the missing person during this difficult time. We extend our thanks to all the volunteers who responded last night and wish the best of luck to the crews continuing the search today."
The police Eagle helicopter and Coastguard volunteers had been searching the water, while police and Fire and Emergency teams searched the shoreline.
