Police in Wellington have arrested a 47-year-old man in connection with a spate of fires in the city.

A series of suspicious fires were lit in Wellington early yesterday morning, including several in rubbish or wheelie bins.
Inspector Chris Benseman said a man had been charged with arson and burglary.
However police said they were still looking for those responsible for a fire at a flat in Nairn Street, which also occurred yesterday morning.
The fire was believed to have started after a couch on the front porch was set alight.
Anyone with information about any of the fires is asked to contact Wellington police.
