Missing vehicle found nearby after Hamilton stabbing

17:54 pm on 30 August 2009

The police in Hamilton say they have found a vehicle believed to have been driven away from the scene of a fatal stabbing on Friday night.

Paramedics were unable to resuscitate 46-year-old Nigel McQueen after he was knifed in Catalina Drive in the suburb of Melville.

A Toyota Lucida people-mover considered central to the investigation was found on Saturday afternoon by a member of the public in a nearby street.

Detective Senior Sergant Chris Page says the owner of the vehicle has been identified.

He says several people are being questioned and forensic examinations of both the car and the property were being carried out on Saturday.

Detective Senior Sergant Page says part of the investigation is to establish who should and should not have been driving the people-mover on Friday night. So far, he says, there appear to be no links to drugs or gangs.
