An Invercargill courier driver is recovering in hospital after being attacked by a mastiff-cross dog while delivering a package.
Last week two women were attacked by two other large mastiff-cross dogs in the city.
The Invercargill City Council said in the latest incident on Monday a dog jumped out of an open window and latched onto a courier driver's arm.
A council spokesperson John Youngson said the dog's owners had already put the animal down but they might still face prosecution.
"We do this with any dog attack and while it depends on the victim, we must look at legal action against the dog owners," he said.
Animal services officers had visited the address before in response to complaints about a barking dog.
