Perlina Lau picks out six of the best on the streamers this month, including the return of the Roy dynasty in Succession and the much anticipated second series of Yellowjackets.
Daisy Jones & the Six
The 10-part miniseries mockumentary follows a rock band in the '70s and their swift rise to fame in the LA music scene. They go on to become one of the most famous bands in the world and the show explores the reason behind their split at the height of their success, which they never spoke about... until now.
The series presents like a documentary, interviewing the band members in present day (20 years later) intercut with scenes from the past. If it rings a bell, it’s probably because it sounds a lot like the story of Fleetwood Mac.
The series is based on a book of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid, who was inspired by her experience of growing up and watching the real band on TV.
A very recognisable cast with Riley Keough (granddaughter of Elvis, although she wasn't a musician before this series) as Daisy Jones, Sam Claflin (Me Before You), and Suki Waterhouse. The two leads were the only non-musicians in the cast.

Extrapolations
From the writer of Contagion comes the first season of this series which looks at how climate change and the climate crisis will affect life, family, work, faith, and love.
Set in world where cancer has been defeated, humans have made it to Mars yet it's still one climate disaster after another.
If you're not convinced - here's the cast; Sienna Miller, Marion Cotillard, Meryl Streep, David Schwimmer, Forest Whittaker, Elijah Wood, Edward Norton, Gemma Chan - a stellar line-up to say the least. I'm not sure if they could have added any more stars into this show.

Swarm
A young girl's obsession with a pop star takes a dark and dangerous turn and becomes a bit more than just being a fan - in this American horror thriller show.
The title is likely inspired by Beyonce's fans being referred to as the Bey-hive (bees - swarm - geddit?). Brought to us by the duo behind the successful Atlanta - Donald Glover as a creator and executive producer and Janine Nabers as showrunner - it stars Dominique Fishback as the young Dre whose fandom goes too far. The show premiered at South by Southwest last week ahead of its release this month.

Yellowjackets S2
It feels like it's been a bit of a wait for this next season, but perhaps it's because there were so many twists at the end of the first season. I just need some answers!
Season one lays out the storyline of a New Jersey female high-school soccer team whose plane crashes in a forest on the way to a national competition. They spend months trying to survive; foraging, searching for food, dealing with the cold and a surprise pregnancy. They also discover a taste for flesh. Human flesh.
The series cuts between the past where the girls try to survive and the present, where the surviving adults, played by Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis, battle the secrets they've kept quiet for 25 years.
At the end of the last season, we found out Lottie may in fact be alive and apparently in a cult. Will Shauna and her baby survive the cannibals?
In the present day, Ricci's Misty finds a new partner in crime, played by Elijah Wood. According to Ricci, this next season is "even wilder, more crazy" and "more shocking".

Succession S4
Anyone who's a fan is already waiting for the next season and will know THIS is the month.
Like the cast, audiences will probably be bummed this is the fourth and final season of the show. Nicholas Braun - Cousin Greg - says he's "sad as hell" about the acclaimed HBO show coming to an end.
The end of last season saw the patriarch, Logan Roy, cut his kids out of the global media empire after renegotiating a divorce settlement. This season, the siblings are picking up from where they left off - banding together for more scheming and preparing to battle their way back for a chance of… succession.

Wellmania
If you have Instagram then you may have seen or heard of Australian comedian Celeste Barber. She's become well-known for videos in which she imitates models posing in ridiculous outfits, to great comic effect.
Barber stars in this new comedy-drama series based on the novel by Brigid Delaney - Wellmania: Misadventures in the Search for Wellness. Co-created by Delaney and Benjamin Law (The Family Law), Barber plays Liv Healey; a middle-aged food blogger who faces a major health crisis and has to rethink her fast-paced unhealthy lifestyle.
She's forced to change her way of life and jump on board a wellness journey. A shout out to my fellow Creamerie buddy, JJ Fong who plays her best/oldest friend.

Quick mention: Ted Lasso - the most happy and jolly show (at least in its first season) is back on Apple TV for its third season!
