All Blacks coaching staff admit they are not sure if captain Richie McCaw can cope with three more rugby World Cup matches because of a foot injury.
McCaw has twice been named to start tests in pool play, but then been withdrawn late in the week.
However, coach Graham Henry says the 30-year-old will play in the quarterfinal against Argentina in Auckland on Sunday.
Henry says McCaw has had to change his training schedule, spending more time off his feet and in the gym in the lead-up to games.
