Senior executives at Auckland Airport have unveiled plans for an "airport of the future", featuring a crescent-shaped domestic and international on one site. The plan, though still in the proposal stage, was presented to stakeholders at the airport's “investor day” today, and comes with a price tag of $2.4 billion. The proposed upgrade follows forecasts that passenger movements through the airport will increase 175 per cent from 14.5 million to 40 million by 2044 – we don't fancy the line at that baggage carousel. Airport chief executive Adrian Littlewood says the proposed infrastructure upgrades would enable the airport to cope with that kind of growth.
