The New Zealand Defence Force had sent one person to a global summit looking to come up with a blueprint for armies to use AI.

More than 90 countries including the US and China have sent government representatives to the two-day Responsible AI in the Military Domain (REAIM) summit in Seoul.

The government said this was to give the Defence Force the opportunity to engage in discussion with other countries, including partners in the Five Eyes intelligence group.

The first such summit last year came up with a modest "call to action".

The only independent advisory group on AI military robots to the New Zealand government was shut down this year.
