New Zealand athletes have strong medal chances going into several finals at the Tokyo Paralympics tonight.
Sophie Pascoe will chase a fourth Tokyo Paralympics medal tonight when she lines up in final of the 200 metre SM9 medley. The final is scheduled for 9.40pm (NZ time).
Pascoe easily won her heat to post the fastest qualifying time.
She's chasing her second gold of the Games having won the 100 freestyle final last night and Pascoe told TVNZ having posted the fastest time in the heats is a benefit.
"It's the first time I've been ranked (fastest) first into a final here and it's nice to be in those (centre) yellow lanes especially for the 200 IM as it gives me a little perspective around the pool and I can see what's going on," said Pascoe.

Also chasing medals in pool tonight are Nikita Howarth who'll contest the 100m breaststroke SB7 having qualified third fastest, Tupou Neiufi in the S8 50 metre freestyle having qualified fourth fastest while Jesse Reynolds qualified seventh fastest for the men's 200m SM9 medley final.
The final of the 100m women's breaststroke is set for 8.07pm, the women's 50m freestyle is scheduled for 10.37pm and the men's 200m SM9 medley final for 9.32pm (all NZ times).
Sprinter Danielle Aitchison is a gold medal hope in the 100 metre S8 final having posted the fastest time in the heats - the final is scheduled for 10.10pm.
Aitchison won silver in the 200m S8 final.
