New Caledonia's Industry Federation is upset at how local businesses were portrayed in a comic strip published by the Competition Authority.
The comic explained local production and competition with their effects on the cost of living.
The Federation said the comic strip wasn't instructive but humiliating and insulting to local industry.
It said it wondered how such a publication denigrating local production was meant to establish a relationship of trust.
The comic strip was launched to mark the International Day of Competition.
New Caledonia's Competition Authority was launched last year after repeated protests against the high cost of living.
However, it became operational only this year after political differences were settled to appoint staff.
