Council leaders in Auckland will gather for the last time at midday on Friday before their councils are merged to form the super city.
Seven mayors and the regional council chairman will wear their chains of office at a final ceremonial meeting of the informal mayoral forum.
John Banks, Len Brown and Andrew Williams are contestants for the Auckland mayoralty.
Voting closes at midday on Saturday.
The new Auckland Council comes into being on 1 November. It will comprise eight existing councils.
