Forest & Bird will address the neglect and collapse of biodiversity in the environment at its annual conference this weekend.
Politicians, environmental spokespeople, iwi and other guest speakers are attending the event being held at Te Papa today and tomorrow.
The Conservation Minister, Eugenie Sage, will open the conference.
Meanwhile, speakers from Te Whānau a Apanui and Ngāti Porou will talk about the neglect and imminent collapse of biodiversity in the Raukumara ranges.
They will also discuss how hapū are trying to turn things around.
Also, a political panel will look at the crisis facing nature and how the regions need to be looked after.
Former Green Party co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons will give a speech tonight about climate change.
