Black Ferns Sevens reach Las Vegas final

The Black Ferns Sevens have reached the final of the USA Sevens in Las Vegas following today's wins over Russia and the USA.

They play Australia in the final at 3.08pm NZT, a team they defeated yesterday in the group stage.

New Zealand emerged from pool play unbeaten on day one of the tournament, despite being drawn in group that contained heavyweights England and world champions Australia.

In Sunday's quarterfinals, the Black Ferns Sevens ran in four tries to one to beat Russia 26-5.

Michaela Bryde scored a brace with Portia Woodman and and Ruby Tui also crossing the line.

In their semi-final against the USA, New Zealand came back from a 7-5 half time defecit to win 7-12, thanks to a second half try from Niall Williams.

Bryde scored in the first half.

Meanwhile, the All Blacks Sevens have progressed to the quarterfinals of the men's tournament, despite losing their final pool game today to Argentina 12-10.

They play England in the quarterfinals at 6.22pm NZT.
