All southbound lanes on State Highway 1 in Penrose have now reopened following an earlier crash.
Police thanked motorists for their patience while the road was cleared.
Earlier this afternoon, motorists were told to expect delays or find another way to travel home with all but one southbound lane shut.
Three vehicles crashed heading south on Auckland's Southern Motorway.
Police said that the crash in Penrose was reported around 3.30pm on Tuesday.
One person received minor injuries as a result.
