Plea for medical cover for veterans' children

18:26 pm on 11 December 2013

The son of a World War II veteran has pleaded with MPs to cover the medical care of children who have inherited war damage from ex-service members.

The Social Services select committee has been hearing submissions on the Veterans' Support Bill.

Paul Harman says he suffered genetic harm due to his father's service. He says there is nothing in the bill now for children who have suffered, including from the effects of psychological harm done to a parent in war.

Mr Harman says chemical warfare during the Vietnam war is still hurting the descendants of veterans.
