A man has died following a crash in Southland on Boxing Day.
Police said three people were taken to hospital following the single-vehicle crash on Edendale-Woodlands Highway around 7:20pm on Monday.
A man who was in the vehicle died in hospital this morning.
"Our thoughts and sympathy are with the man's friends and family at this difficult time," police said.
The holiday period road toll is now four.
Police have responded to a crash on State Highway 1 in Tongariro National Park at Taupo involving eight people earlier this afternoon.
Police said initial indications suggested two vehicles collided near Tree Trunk Gorge Rd.
Emergency services were notified about 1.40pm.
Eight people are understood to have been involved and at least one person has serious injuries.
