A police Armed Response Team has been used to pull over a car linked to a dishonesty crime in Hamilton.

The police say this was appropriate because the man found in the car had been known to carry firearms, although he wasn't charged with any firearm offences in this case.

Former police officer and National MP, Chester Borrows, is worried about the Armed Response Team model but he told RNZ reporter Jordan Bond in this case the response seems justified.
