Waikato River Authority wants inquiry into Auckland water take

The Waikato River Authority is calling on the local government Minister to launch an inquiry into Auckland's water crisis.

Auckland is experiencing its worst ever drought and the council has asked the government to fast-track its request to take more water from the Waikato River.

But the Waikato River Authority - which is an independent voice on behalf of the awa - says it is paying the price for Auckland's drought and has written to the Government asking for a review.
