People in Fiji have been advised to use water sparingly as approaching dry weather conditions may affect the water supply in the coming months.
The Water Authority of Fiji said it was preparing for water shortages.
Chair of the authority's board Bhavesh Kumar encouraged people to use water conservatively and not to waste it as every drop was precious.
The authority would continue to monitor water levels in reservoirs closely as rainfall remained below average in the western and northern parts of the country, Mr Kumar said,
The authority would assist affected customers facing shortages through water carting and other means, he said.
The Fiji Times reported it had reactivated an emergency line for customers to request water carting services.
