Separately, the number of people visiting New Zealand has risen, boosted by holidaymakers from China.
Official figures showed arrivals rose 8 percent to 270,000 in November, compared with the previous month a year earlier.
Statistics New Zealand said the biggest increase came from China, with tourist numbers rising almost 50 percent.
On an annual basis, the number of travellers rose 5 percent to 2.84 million, with the largest increases from Australia, China, and the United States.
