Australia unveils aid support for Samoa

13:53 pm on 9 May 2014

Australia's Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator Brett Mason, is to unveil plans today in Samoa for a nearly 19 million US dollar aid package for infrastructure developments.

The money is intended for roads, bridges and telecommunications.

Senator Mason says the productive sectors of the economy need better infrastructure to grow.

He is also visiting the site for the 2014 United Nations Small Islands Developing States conference in Samoa in September.

Australia is also planning to provide some funding to support Samoa in its hosting role.
