22:11 pm on 28 August 2010

The body of Lucas Ward will be returned to his family on Saturday.

The four-year-old was found in the Waimata River in Gisborne on Thursday a few hundred metres from his grandmother's property.

He had been missing since 17 August.

The boy was found by a surf skier after an extensive search by the police, his family and the public.

His great-uncle Brian Hunt says Lucas will be dressed in the clothing of his favourite superhero, Spiderman.

He will also wear boots worn by the animated character Buzz Lightyear.

Mr Hunt says his nephew's body will be taken to a marae in Ruatoria on Sunday before a tangi on Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday will be a service at St Mary's Catholic Church in Gisborne for family and the public.
