CNMI now has 16 Covid-19 cases

The Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas has recorded a new Covid-19 case, a 67 year-old man who tested positive of the coronavirus through the airport surveillance process.

The Governor's Covid-19 Task Force and Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) said the individual was screened and tested upon arrival on Saturday at the Saipan International Airport.

He is a resident of Guam and after testing positive was immediately isolated at Kanoa Resort, a designated site.

Contact tracing has begun for close contacts, including other passengers aboard the flight.

The CNMI now has 16 positive cases with two 12 recoveries and two deaths.

The CHCC also announced on Saturday that the transition of the CHCC Covid-19 Health Tent to the Medical Care and Treatment Site where individuals experiencing Covid-19 symptoms or are concerned about Covid-19 infection could seek care.

It will be open Monday to Sunday, 8am-5pm.
