Blue Sky Communications pleased with expansion to Samoa

Blue Sky Communications says its expansion to Samoa has enabled it to maintain staff in American Samoa despite reduced economic conditions.

BlueSky purchased Samoa's telecommunications company, Samoa Tel two years ago.

Its CEO Adolfo Montenegro says while economic conditions in American Samoa continue to show weakness, the company is surviving without affecting staff.

Mr Montenegro says BlueSky has increased its payroll over the last three years and it is surviving reductions in federal funding.

He says BlueSky stuck to a decision it made two years ago to expand and invest despite the downturn.

The company has since invested over six million dollars in its wireless infrastructure, enabling the launch of mobile broadband capabilities last year.
