A group of Australian security guards stood down after they posted a series of posts on social media hostile to Muslims have reportedly returned to work at Canberra's asylum seeker detention centre on Nauru.
The eight security guards were part of the emergency response team on Nauru and were employed by contractor Wilson Security until they were suspended in April pending an investigation.
But The Guardian reports that only one guard's contract has been terminated, and seven others have returned to duty after they were given counselling and warnings.
The newspaper says their return has prompted protests by some asylum seekers, expressing concerns about the presence of the guards.
