10:32 am on 26 January 2010

The National Distribution Union says Maori need to pressure the government to increase the minimum wage.

General secretary Robert Reid says Maori are over-represented in the poorest paid occupations, with many on the minimum wage of $12.50 per hour.

Unions want it raised to $15.

Mr Reid told Waatea News the whole country would benefit.
