Niue calls for Forum peer review

08:35 am on 3 June 2011

The Niue government wants the peer review being undertaken under the Cairns Compact for strengthening development co-ordination to be open, frank and blunt.

Niue's the fifth country in the region to volunteer for a review under the Compact following its endorsement by Pacific Islands Forum leaders in 2009.

It's invited Samoa and Nauru to represent the island countries and AusAid to represent development partners.

The Niue government secretary, Richard Hipa says they volunteered for the peer review because they need to take stock of planning and budgeting processes and the coordination of development assistance.
