The company which manages the undersea fibre optic cable linking Samoa, American Samoa and Hawaii has revealsed more details of a planned new cable.
ASH Cable is one third owned by the American Samoa Government.
The company says the remaining lifespan of the current cable is about 7 years - the requirement for a replacement.
The World Bank and Asian Development Bank are committing 35 million US dollars for the new cable while the American Samoa Government is also being asked to contribute.
