The One Nation party leader, who is well known for her anti-immigration stance, made her first appearance in politics 20 years ago and has now been elected to the Australian senate.

She has previously criticised Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people for getting what she referred to as special and preferential treatment.

Organisers of the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair in far north Queensland said tensions began rising yesterday when Ms Hanson turned up with a Channel Nine crew.

They said she walked around briefly and, as she was leaving the building, Gulf Aboriginal leader Murrandoo Yanner began yelling loudly at her to go back home.

The incident was captured in a video clip that was gaining momentum on social media.

In the clip, Ms Hanson can be seen walking away from Mr Yanner as he yells at her.

"Now you are kicking the Muslims around, you are just a racist redneck with your red hair," he said. "Go away, go back to Ipswich and your fish and chip shop, you're disgraceful, you are intellectually dishonest and you are not welcome here."

Ms Hanson has declined to comment on the incident.
