First win this season for the Pulse

06:49 am on 23 May 2010

The Central Pulse have beaten Canterbury Tactix 45-43 in Wellington for their first win in netball's trans-Tasman championship this season and only their second since the competition started in 2008.

The Pulse led thoughout but after being ahead by up to 10 during the second quarter they allowed the Tactix to close to within three goals after the third.

The margin was down to two late in the final quarter after a couple of turnovers and the Tactix looked to have a chance of snatching a late win until their centre Phillipa Finch went off with a knee injury.

The Pulse beat the New South Wales Swifts in Porirua last year and came close on Monday night in Auckland before losing to the Northern Mystics by one goal in extra time.
