An incident near Auckland's Middlemore train station has seen all trains on the eastern and southern lines suspended.
In a statement, police said emergency services were responding to an "ongoing incident" on Monday night.
Auckland Transport first said delays and possible cancellations were possible at 7.05pm.
At 7.15pm, AT said all trains were being held on the two train lines.
"Expect further delays and cancellations," it said.
"Scheduled buses are accepting train tickets to and from all impacted stations."
